Welcome to Morton General Hospital's Labor and Delivery

We want to make your delivery a memorable experience. Our caring staff is here to take exceptional care of you and your new arrival. Our new facility has a private secure birthing suite where patients labor and deliver all in one room.

Our one on one nursing-to-patient ratio provides patients with support during labor the labor and delivery process. Our goal is to make this experience a nurturing supportive time for you and your baby. Your newborn will room in with you. Breastfeeding is encouraged and supported as much as possible with teaching available from our staff. Low patient to nurse ratios provide extra care for new mothers and babies,

Dr Merrell Cooper, D.O. has been delivering babies at Morton General Hospital since 1993. His patients will tell you of his compassion, expertise and professionalism.

Our anesthesia providers are present for all deliveries, offering pain relief with several options available to meet your needs.

We support our moms in how they want to give birth — from having the calming atmosphere of family-aided presence to requiring high tech assistance. We recommend you fill out this birth plan and bring it with you when your deliver.

Our goal is to support the mother and family members in sharing a positive birth experience by providing individualized, highly-skilled care.
